Hex Wine Co. is carefully grown, crafted and nurtured on the Barratts cherished Kenton Creek Estate Vineyard, located in Gumeracha, Adelaide Hills.

Like the grapevines they care for, Abby and Ashley Barratt love the Adelaide Hills and wouldn’t want to live anywhere else. They bought Kenton Creek Estate in 2014 – continuing a tight connection with the local community.

This quiet corner of the Hills – slightly warmer with less rainfall – produces high quality cool climate wine grapes.

The vines are healthy, their roots reaching deep into the fertile heavy loam soils over clay and bedrock.

The grapes are grown sustainably using biodynamic principles with minimal sulphides. The pristine fruit shines through in the wines.
The vines hug a hill shared with old gum trees and views that go on forever.

It is very beautiful. And could tell a tale or two about fending off bushfires.

But adversity builds character – in the family and the wines.
The Barratts know their vineyard intimately. It’s right outside their kitchen window. Which only partly explains why the wines are food friendly.

HEX wines show a sense of place. They couldn’t come from anywhere else. The local fresh produce stalls are much loved. There’s one in every glass.

Ash and Abby want to make Adelaide Hills wine accessible to all. They believe wine can be as formal or casual as you make it.

Sip HEX wines with Charles and Camilla at Buckingham Palace and hold the glass by the stem with your little finger sticking out at right angles.

Or drink them Barratt style – in generous quantities at a long table in the backyard with friends and family, fun and laughter, lamb chops, pasta and hearty conversation.
