Ash and Abby Barratt’s family vineyard, nestled in the slopes of Kenton Valley in the Adelaide Hills, is the heart of HEX Wine Co.
With vines spanning over 60 acres of their 90-acre property, they craft small-batch wines using premium fruit grown entirely on their own land.
On their elevated site, which rises to 470 metres above sea level, Ash and Abby craft small-batch wines, working alongside a local winemaking collaborator to shape the style and character of each variety.
Each variety is carefully matched to specific clones, soil types, and aspects, allowing for true expression of site and precision in style. Both the vineyard and winemaking practices are certified sustainable, with every step — from vine to bottle — guided by a commitment to land, legacy, and quality.
Tucked into a quiet pocket of the Adelaide Hills, HEX Wine Co. draws its character from a site defined by elevation, soil, and microclimate — producing exceptional cool-climate wines with clarity and precision.
The vineyard is rooted in heavy loam and clay soils, underpinned by ancient Proterozoic rock formations, which retain moisture and contribute depth, texture, and structure to the wines.
A distinctive microclimate, shaped by cool nights and long, even ripening periods, allows fruit to develop slowly and naturally — ideal for wines of purity, balance, and finesse.
Managed under biodynamic principles, the vineyard lets the pristine fruit speak for itself in every bottle.
